I could spend some time reflecting sagely on what this year has taught me and thinking of the hidden silver linings, but I’m sure we’re all over that! For now, let’s philosophically put 2020 behind us and look forward to the coming opportunities to network, meet up and grow in our careers! Let’s take a look at some gatherings to put in our 2021 calendar.

Things to see and do in 2021 in English language teaching
1. 3rd International Conference on Advanced Research in Education.
When: March 11-14, 2021
Where: Oxford, UK.
Submissions for papers: Currently accepting submissions for paper publications and both oral and poster presentations till February for speakers and presenters.
Topics: teaching methods, educational foundations, public education policies, learning psychology, and numerous other areas shaping the future of education. This conference is for scientists, researchers, educators, and other stakeholders in the field of education.
2. ETCONF teaching conference 2021
When: 26- 29 March 2021
Where: Venue: Centre International de Conférences Sorbonne Universités (CICSU), Paris, France
Paper Submission Deadline: 05 March 2021
Early Registration Deadline: 18 December, 2020
Late Registration Deadline: 15 March 2021

3. TESOL 2021 Virtual Convention & English Language Expo
When: 24-27 March
Where: Online (this is a great opportunity for those of us who don’t reside in the United States to be able to attend this event economically!).

4. The Image Conference 2021
When: Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th April, 2021
Where: Vancouver, Canada
“Putting media and images at the centre of the language learning agenda.”
After the pandemic cancelled this conference in 2020, The Image Conference, the annual conference of The School for Training is to be held in Vancouver, Canada in collaboration with The Association of British Columbia Teachers of English as an Additional Language (BC TEAL).
5. English Language Teaching Conference 2021
When: Thursday 22 April 2021
Where: Online
The ELT Conference is a one-stop event for ELT practitioners and their managers. The next event will be on 22 April 2021 and will take place online. Bookings open soon.
Delegates can explore topics such as mental health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, exams and teaching practice, time management, and team performance.

6. IATEFL Annual Conference 2021
When: 19 – 22 June 2o21 with Pre-Conference Events on Friday 18 June 2021.
Where: The 2021 IATEFL Conference will be taking place at Harrogate Convention Centre, Kings Road, Harrogate, HG1 5LA
The deadline for making an online booking is 31 May 2021.
Submissions: Due to the 54th IATEFL Annual Conference deferral, they are not currently looking at accepting further speaker proposals for Harrogate 2021.
